Your full-day excursion begins with pickup from your Palenque hotel at 7:00 AM, when you’ll board a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle destined for the Metzabok Lagoon. Following a scenic 3-hour drive through the Chiapas highlands, you’ll arrive in the heart of this protected area, framed by dense rainforest and serene emerald waters.

Enjoy a unique experience in one of the most important nature reserves in Mexico. Included in the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves in 2012 for its incredibly lush ecosystems, Metzabok—meaning "Lacandon Maya God of Thunder" in the local indigenous language—is hidden between the eastern mountains of Chiapas in the heart of the Selva Lacandona (Ocosingo municipality).

Spanning over 82 hectares, the reserve features 27 interconnected lagoons of various sizes surrounded by the untouched, mountain vegetation of the jungle.
